Spectator friendly matchracing event
Sailing seems to be slowly producing more and more spectator friendly events.
Here is one example in Marstrand Sweeden. They hold a match race event every year in an enclosed bay that is surrounded by spectators.
Here is a highlight reel style video of the finals of the event.

Cruisers are different
Here's a nice little video about a solo cruiser. Very well shot, well edited and a nice story.
Long term cruisers can be a little different though...

random sailing news
It seems that several interesting pro sailing events are reaching out and expanding their coverage. Just this week an English speaking sailor won a race from New York to Barcelona Spain in Open 60 mono hulls. There's a good series of videos on You Tube about the event, but here is the final one.
The production foiling catamaran is ripping up some race courses in Europe. I wonder if one would if one would survive hitting one of the logs that litter our part of the straight of georgia? Anyway here's a video :

Frost Bite season ends
Another season on winter sailing is over and done.
I have been racing in the winter with the Vancouver Rowing Club frost bite series, the Polar Bear. Check it out here:

Having local dolphins rocks!
This week there have been sitings of large pods of white sided Dolphins in Howe Sound and Vancouver Harbour. We no longer live in a waterway devoid of marine life!
Last spring I had the privlidge of sailing with a pod of Dolls Porpuses off Point Grey.
Cheers!
